Description: This qualification is aimed those looking to undertake the role of a first aider in the workplace, as outlined in the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

First Aid at Work Course

First Aid at Work course is an ideal first aid course for MEDIUM – HIGHER  risk workplaces such as engineering, engineering workshops, construction sites, factories, large warehouses.

This course is also an ideal first aid course for larger companies who have a high number of staff members or visitors to the site but are still a LOW risk workplace such as a large administration building.

First Aid at Work course is specifically designed first aid course for workplaces that have a MEDIUM – HIGHER risk of injury in the workplace for their staff colleagues. This course will give you the skills and knowledge to be able to successfully manage an uncoscious casualty, and give life saving CPR to a casualty who has stopped breathing. You will also learn how to safely use an AED confidently and competently too.

As well as learning all about CPR and AEDs, you will also learn how to provide essential life saving treatment for a casualty who may have ‘neck, head, or spinal injuries’, ‘injuries to bones and joints’, ‘eye injuries’, ‘hypovolaemic shock’, ‘convulsive seizures’, ‘heart attacks, strokes, and angina attacks’, ‘diabetes’, ‘anaphylaxis, ‘asthma‘, ‘SCA (sudden cardiac arrest‘, ‘poisoning’, and plenty more on this intensive 3 day (18 guided learning hours) First Aid at Work course

First Aid aid at Work course syllabus includes

Understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider in reference to:

  • Preventing cross infection
  • Importance of recording incidents and actions
  • Using available equipment
  • Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who:

  • is unresponsive but breathing normally
  • is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally
  • is wounded and bleeding
  • has external bleeding
  • is suffering from medical shock
  • is having a heart attack
  • is having a stroke
  • has bites or stings
  • has had electric shock
  • has injuries to eyes, bones, muscles, and joints
  • has chest injury
  • has splinters, cuts, grazes, or bruising
  • has minor burns or scalds
  • is having a seizure
  • has sudden poisoning
  • is suffering from anaphylactic shock
  • has diabetes
  • has asthma
  • is suffering the effects of extreme heat or cold

Course Duration

18 guided learning hours (3 days).

Course Tests

Practical observations during your training days and a final multi-choice question paper at the end of your course.

Course Qualification

Candidates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final  multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual regulated

QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)

This is valid for 3 years from the date of the course, you will receive an A4 size certificate and also a wallet/purse size plastic qualification card.

Course Pre-requisites

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace emergency first aider. Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole first aider.

It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

This qualification is available to candidates in England.

The Qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
