Emergency Paediatric First Aid

Specifically designed to meet the most recent EYFS criteria, Emergency Paediatric First Aid is an excellent course in first aid training.

It will equip you, the learner, with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to perform high-quality CPR on a non-breathing casualty and to use an AED (defibrillator) safely and confidently in an emergency.

You will also learn how to treat minor cuts, burns, scalds, insect bites, and stings. You will also be able to assist someone who is choking, having a seizure, or experiencing cardiac arrest or other medical emergencies.

Qualifications Network UK-accredited and OFQUAL-regulated emergency paediatric first aid course.

This training adheres to the principles and criteria of the Resuscitation Council UK.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid learning outcomes;

Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency Paediatric First Aider in reference to:

  • Preventing cross-infection
  • Importance of recording incidents and actions
  • Using available equipment
  • Assessing the situation and circumstances to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency

Be able to provide first aid for an infant or child who:

  • is unresponsive but breathing normally
  • is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally
  • is choking
  • has external bleeding
  • is suffering from medical shock
  • is suffering from bites, stings, and minor injuries (splinters, cuts, grazes, or bruising)

Course Pre-requisites

It is expected that learners possess at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy skills, or their equivalent.

This qualification is ideal for individuals aged 16 and above.

Learners should be physically capable of providing first aid, such as CPR, to a casualty on the floor.

Course Duration

6 guided learning hours (1day).

Course Tests

Multiple-choice question paper.

  • A minimum of 70% required to pass this part of the course (11 out of 15)

Practical Observations.

  • Students must be able to perform relevant practical tasks on the floor during the summative assessments.
  • A 100% pass mark is required.

The assessment will take place under strict examination conditions; i.e., learners will sit at least 1.25 metres apart and will not be allowed to confer during the examination.

No books, including dictionaries, will be permitted during the examination.

Course Qualification

Learners who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final multiple-choice paper will be awarded:

QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

Qualification is valid for 3 years from the assessment date of the course.

Learners will receive:

  • QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) certificate.
  • QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) PDF certificate.
  • QNUK qualification card for a wallet or purse.

Course Progression

The QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a suitable choice for learners seeking to advance their knowledge in first aid.

You will build on your current learning to include common ailments and conditions, fractures, spinal injuries, and many other topics.

Geographical Coverage

This qualification is available to learners in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

These qualifications can be delivered in other countries; however, learners should be aware that the content was developed based on current UK practice.
