Description: This qualification is aimed at those looking to undertake the role of an Emergency first aider in the workplace, as outlined in the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

This qualification has the purpose of supporting a role in the workplace.

Emergency First Aid at Work Course

Emergency First Aid at Work course has become a very popular first aid course for LOW-risk workplaces such as offices, cafes, and also for small businesses or companies.

Emergency first aid at work course will equip you and your first aid team with those essential lifesaving skills such as how to safely manage an unconscious casualty and how to give lifesaving CPR that will make such a difference to an unconscious casualty who may have stopped breathing.

You and your first aid team will also learn how to safely use an AED in an emergency with confidence and competence, also how to put the casualty into the recovery position whilst awaiting medical assistance.

Also covered on this emergency first aid at work course you and your first aid team will learn how to provide essential treatment for minor injuries such as burns, scalds, bites, cuts, grazes, wounds, bleeds, convulsive seizures and quite a bit more too in this fast-paced but fun 6 hours tutor-led training.

Emergency first aid at work is a regulated qualification that is approved by Ofqual and accredited by Qualifications Network this meets all current HSE and UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Emergency First Aid at Work course syllabus includes

Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider in reference to:

  • Preventing cross infection
  • Importance of recording incidents and actions
  • Using available equipment
  • Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Be able to administer and provide first aid to a casualty who:

  • is unresponsive but breathing normally
  • is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally
  • is choking
  • has external bleeding
  • is suffering from medical shock
  • has splinters,
  • has cuts, grazes, and bruising
  • has minor burns or scalds
  • is having a seizure

6 guided learning hours (1day).

Practical observations during your training day and a final multi-choice question paper at the end of your course.

Course Qualification

Candidates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final  multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual approved QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)

This is valid for 3 years from the date of the course, you will receive an A4 size certificate and also a wallet/purse size plastic qualification card.

Course Pre-requisites

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace emergency first aider. Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole emergency first aider.

It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

This qualification is available to candidates in England.

The Qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
