Emergency Paediatric First Aid (Rugby) Learning Outcomes:
Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency Paediatric First Aider in reference to:
- Preventing cross-infection.
- Importance of recording incidents and actions.
- Using available equipment.
- Assessing the situation and circumstances to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency.
Be able to provide first aid for an infant or child who:
- is unresponsive but breathing normally,
- is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally,
- is choking,
- has external bleeding,
- is suffering from medical shock,
- is suffering from bites, stings, and minor injuries (splinters, cuts, grazes, or bruising),
Course prerequisites:
Learners should have at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy skills, or equivalent skills.
This qualification is ideal for individuals aged 16 and above.
Learners should be physically capable of providing first aid, such as CPR, to a casualty on the floor.
Course Tests:
Multiple-choice question paper.
- A minimum of 70% required to pass this part of the course (11 out of 15)
Practical Observations.
- Learners must be able to perform relevant practical tasks on the floor during the summative assessments.
- A 100% pass mark is required.
Course Qualification:
Learners will receive a certificate after completing all the practical elements of the course and passing the final multiple-choice paper.
QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
Qualification is valid for 3 years from the course assessment date.
Learners will receive:
- QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) certificate.
- QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) PDF certificate.
- QNUK qualification card for a wallet or purse.
