Description:

This qualification is aimed at those working in health care settings who are required to administer Oxygen & Entonox ® as part of their role. This includes, but is not limited to pre-hospital care providers.

This is not a licence to practice this qualification and employers should ensure they have full and rigorous Clinical Governance in place to be able to allow employees to administer medical gasses.

The learner will;

  • Understand the principles of administering oxygen in an emergency situation.

  • Understand how to administer oxygen to a casualty.

  • Understand the principles of administering Entonox®

  • Understand how to administer Entonox® to a casualty.

6 guided learning hours.

Course Tests

Multiple Choice Question Paper.

  • 70% required to pass this part of the course (7 out of 10)

Practical Observations.

  • For this qualification, learners must be able to perform relevant practical tasks on the floor during the summative assessment. 100% pass mark required.

The assessment will take place under examination conditions; i.e. students will sit at least 1.25 metres apart and will not be allowed to confer during the examination. No books, including dictionaries, will be permitted during the examination.

Course Qualification

Candidates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final  multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual approved QNUK Level 3 Award in Administration of Emergency Medical Gases (RQF)

This is valid for 1 year from the assessment date of the course.

learners will receive;

  • An Ofqual regulated QNUK Level 3 Award in Medical Gasses (RQF) certificate (PDF certificate)

If you require a paper certificate in addition to a PDF certificate then there is a £1 + VAT fee per certificate. This can be requested at the time of booking.

Course Pre-requisites

Learners should be at least 18 years old to undertake this qualification.

It is recommended that candidates have at least level 2 literacy to undertake this qualification within the given TQT.

Learners should have suitable first aid or medical qualifications.

The minimum would be a valid first aid at work qualification or a 2-day Outdoor first aid qualification such as the QNUK Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (RQF).

There are no other prerequisites for this qualification.

Geographical Coverage

This qualification is available to learners in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

The Qualification can be delivered in other countries however learners should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
