Description:

This qualification is aimed at those working in healthcare settings who are required to administer oxygen and Entonox® as part of their roles. This includes, but is not limited to, pre-hospital care providers.

Employers should have thorough and stringent clinical governance in place before allowing employees to administer medical gases, as this qualification does not constitute a licence to practice.

Course Pre-requisites

Learners must be at least 18 years old to pursue this qualification.

To pursue this qualification within the TQT, learners should have at least level 2 literacy.

Learners should have appropriate first-aid or medical qualifications.

A valid first aid at work qualification or a two-day outdoor first aid qualification, such as the QNUK Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (RQF), would suffice.

There are no additional requirements for this qualification.

Course Duration

6 guided learning hours.

Course Tests

Multiple-choice question paper.

  • A minimum of 70% required to pass this part of the course (7 out of 10)

Practical Observations.

  • Learners must be able to perform relevant practical tasks on the floor during the summative assessment.
  • A 100% pass mark is required.

The assessment will take place under examination conditions, i.e., students will sit at least 1.25 metres apart and will not be allowed to confer during the examination.

No books, including dictionaries, will be permitted during the examination.

Course Qualification

Learners will receive a QNUK Level 3 Award in Administration of Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) if they successfully complete all the practical course components and the final multiple-choice question paper.

This is valid for 1 year from the course’s assessment date.

Each learner will receive:

  • QNUK Level 3 Award in Medical Gases (RQF) paper certificate.
  • QNUK Level 3 Award in Medical Gases (RQF) PDF certificate.
  • QNUK qualification card for a wallet or purse.

Geographical Coverage

This qualification is available to learners in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

The qualification can be delivered in other countries; however, learners should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
